The 2014 edition of World Trade Organization’s annual World Trade Report, released in mid-October, focuses on trade and development. Specifically, the report identifies four recent major economic trends and examines how they have impacted the ways developing countries use trade to facilitate development. These trends identified are:
- economic rise of developing economies
- growing integration of global production through supply chains
- higher prices for agricultural goods and natural resources
- increasing interdependence of the world economy
The report also reviews the role the WTO plays in trade and development.
More information on the publication, as well as instructions for ordering print copies and options for accessing electronic versions of the full report and individual sections, is available from the WTO website.
